While sensation play is often part of the repertoire of experienced kinksters, it is also a beautiful stepping stone for “spicing up” your sex life, without going full on kink (at least yet!). Join educator Kai Sosa as they escort you on a journey of possibilities, demonstrating the endless opportunities to erotically engage your senses.
In this workshop we will:
- Demonstrate many ways to incorporate physical sensations into your erotic play
- Discuss how intentional pain play can be a component of sensation play (but it doesn’t have to be!)
- Identify the ways power dynamics can show up during sensation explorations, and how to navigate them with communication and awareness
During this workshop, you'll get to watch & participate in demonstrations of various topics under the sensation play umbrella. We’ll also brainstorm a list of ways that sight, touch, taste, scent, and sounds can be intentionally brought into your sexy, sensual, playful, or kinky time to enhance any session. Think mirrors, textures, flavors, smells of leather or candles, sounds of implements, dirty talk, or music.
The sensation play menu is as long as Cheesecake Factory's, but you get to pick and choose depending on what works for you! Components can be gradually added to your repertoire over time- add a dash of playfulness, a pinch of anticipation, or sprinkle of pain. Your recipe, your rules, your fun!

What to expect from this workshop:
It is designed to provide an overview of potential sensation elements to add to your repertoire. The educator will demonstrate as many topics and implements as possible and allow the attendees to choose which ones they would like to feel on their hands or arms. These demonstrations might include a violet wand, wartenburg wheels, feathers, blindfolds & restraints, wax play, & nipple clamps. Demonstrations will be carried out more practically than erotically. Demonstrations of products will be focused on introducing the basics ways to use the products & implements and any relevant safety notes. Discussions will include suggestions for ways to set the scene in erotic ways.
Who is this workshop for?
We will focus on information for both givers and receivers of sensory experiences. We'll discuss ways to set the scene and headspace as a receiver, as well as identifying practical tips for when you're the one delivering the sensations to someone else. This "sampler platter" workshop is a great way to learn if and what you are interested in exploring when it comes to sensation play. Whether you’re just starting out & you’ve never heard the term sensation play until today, or you need to get your creative juices flowing & want to be reminded of all the sensual & sexual ways explore physical sensations, this workshop is for you!
You don't need a partner to attend, nor do you need a partner to explore sensation play at home. We'll talk about the perspectives of both givers and receivers.
As always, our workshops are not play spaces, nor are they meetups. If you are looking for local groups that host such events, we are happy to recommend them!

Lotus Blooms’ workshops are open to people of all genders and sexual orientations, individuals, couples, or groups. Due to state law, attendees must be over 18 to come to the workshops or shop in the store. Workshops are currently held at Refresh Wellness Collective - 1011 King St (just a few doors down from the Lotus Blooms). Workshops generally run about 90 minutes with a 5 minute break in the middle. Afterwards, attendees are welcome to shop Lotus Blooms with a 15% discount.
If you are running late:
Because the topics of sex, sexuality, intimacy, etc are so personal and often taboo in our society, our staff and educators work very hard to create events that make people feel comfortable learning and sharing. Much of the working agreements and standards of behavior tend to take place at the beginning of our short workshops. As such, if you arrive more than 15 minutes after the workshop is scheduled to begin, we will not be able to allow you to join this time around and your tickets will be forfeited. We hope that this helps to encourage people to come on time and enjoy the entirety of the event, and create a comfortable space for everyone attending!
Cancellation Policy
If you must cancel, please notify Lotus Blooms at least 48 hours prior to the workshop and you will receive a store credit, less a $10 cancellation fee per ticket. Cancellations made with less than 48 hours’ notice are not eligible to receive the store credit. A full refund will be issued only in the event that Lotus Blooms cancels the workshop.
